Project Objectives:

In 2024, Shenzhen Jufei Optoelectronics introduced the SIPM/PLM system. Through the implementation of the SIPM/PLM project, the following objectives are to be achieved:

Integrated Management Structure for New Product Development and Derivative Development: Establish a management framework that combines new product development with derivative product development. This includes creating a project management model and system that meets the company's IPD requirements, thereby solidifying the R&D process.

Product Library Organization and Modular Design Approach: Taking the implementation of PLM as an opportunity, organize the product library and establish a modular design approach. Build a clear and complete product lineage. By designing software interfaces for drawing extraction, ensure parts, BOMs, and drawings enter the PLM system simultaneously. Ensure all components, drawings, and technical documents are fully linked for easy retrieval.

Unified Data Management Model: Develop a unified data organization and management model suitable for the enterprise, centralizing and associating all types of data related to products. Achieve efficient querying and sharing of data, enhancing data reusability.

Workflow Definition and Execution: Based on actual business flow needs, strictly define and execute workflows to solve inter-departmental collaboration issues. Utilize workflows to handle complex engineering changes, ensuring closed-loop management from initiation, execution, notification, to traceability.

BOM-Centric Full Data Management Model: Create a comprehensive data management model centered around the Bill of Materials (BOM) to integrate design and process management, achieving integrated design and process management. Implement structured management of process design to improve efficiency and standardization levels.

Integration with Development Tools: The PLM should enable integrated management of design and process, integrating with various R&D tools to achieve structured management of product information. Provide accurate data support for SAP, MES, and other backend operation management systems.

Through on-site research and blueprint design, combined with Jufei Optoelectronics' specific business needs and Sipu's extensive consulting service experience, the Sipu implementation team is set to create a precise R&D management solution for Jufei Optoelectronics.

The business panorama of Jufei Optoelectronics.

1. Project Management

Standardize the company’s R&D processes through project management to ensure controllable product development schedules and deliverables. By leveraging the robust project and process management capabilities of the SIPM/PLM system, Jufei Optoelectronics has embedded its R&D workflows directly into the PLM system.

Project Management

By standardizing project document templates, standardized task deliverable templates are ensured for each project.

Document Template Management

By controlling all deliverables through their corresponding approval workflows, the product development process is kept under control and the completeness of deliverables is ensured.

2. Product Management

Implement classified and centralized product management to provide the R&D department with a unified product data management platform, and create materials according to system-defined product categories.

Clearly manage BOM items associated with system products as an integrated whole, significantly improving search efficiency.

BOM Structure

By utilizing the interface program between design software and the PLM system, CAD tools can drive BOM management, enabling online management of drawings and ensuring the uniqueness of drawing versions. Through this software interface, parts, BOMs, and drawings are integrated as a whole, so any changes to the drawings will automatically trigger corresponding updates to the associated BOMs and parts.

3. Process Management

Multiple products may share the same process route, allowing them to be linked to a single common route. This enables batch updates of information such as operation hours, simplifying operations and improving work efficiency.

Process design can be efficiently carried out by quickly replicating standard operations from a central process operation library. This library-based approach enhances standardization, and equipment, tooling, and other relevant information are added directly from their respective libraries.

4. Change Management

By streamlining and standardizing workflows, the company’s engineering change process is formalized within the system, ensuring that technical changes are controlled and standardized. All changes are centrally managed in the system, guaranteeing that electronic documents are always up-to-date and valid, and that all change-related records and approval steps are fully traceable.

The change process is task-driven to ensure controllability, and change execution is triggered and guided by official change notification forms.

5. Coding Management

Implement unified coding for materials and technical documents, standardize the coding system, and prevent the occurrence of multiple codes for the same item.

Coding Rules Standardization

Through the implementation of SIPM/PLM, a material and technical document coding system aligned with the company’s management requirements has been standardized. Automatic coding via SIPM/PLM ensures "one item, one code," effectively preventing issues such as multiple codes for a single item, multiple items sharing one code, and non-standardized coding practices.

6. Knowledge Management

Establish an enterprise knowledge management repository and a standard document library to enable knowledge sharing and inheritance.

Leveraging the powerful knowledge base management capabilities of SIPM/PLM, an enterprise-level knowledge repository has been built to facilitate systematic knowledge accumulation, real-time sharing, and efficient knowledge transfer across the organization.

Knowledge Base Management

7. Integration Management

The PLM system serves as the authoritative data source for materials and BOMs. Design engineers maintain relevant business data within PLM, which is then uniformly transmitted to SAP, eliminating redundant data entry across systems.

Data validation is performed through standardized approval workflows within PLM. Once approved, the data is automatically synchronized to SAP via integrated interfaces.

SAP Synchronization Workflow

The PLM system is integrated with the OA system to synchronize personnel information, enable message notifications, and other functionalities, achieving efficient collaboration between product data and office workflows. This integration connects R&D and approval processes, enabling closed-loop cross-departmental approvals.Through this integration, project R&D cost management and mutual exchange of OA forms are realized, reducing information silos and manual intervention, thereby enhancing end-to-end collaboration efficiency and providing strong support for digital transformation.

Summary:

The successful implementation of the PLM system has provided Jufei Optoelectronics' R&D department with an efficient product data management platform.

Standardized Project Management: Different project templates are designed based on various types, standardizing management and personnel allocation, which significantly enhances personnel efficiency. The project implementation manages participation levels, task assignments, and completion statuses effectively and visibly, improving R&D efficiency.

BOM Establishment by System Product: BOMs are created according to system products and categorized by product type, with specific product templates established for different products. This facilitates rapid material creation and integrates mechanical and software management through the BOM, promoting the standardization and normalization of product R&D data management.

Process Foundation Library: By establishing a foundational process library (standard procedure library) for unified management and easy access and queries, process routes are built under products and components. Utilizing a comprehensive and standardized process foundation database ensures the standardization of the process design. Clarifying the division of labor between design and process reinforces their responsibilities, leveraging each field's expertise to improve BOM accuracy and achieve integrated design and process management, thus reducing BOM maintenance costs.

Change Management Standardization: By standardizing and regulating the change management process, changes are effectively controlled, enhancing product quality. Change processes are driven by tasks to ensure controllability, with change notifications driving execution and ultimately closing the change request loop, preventing losses due to changes and reducing product development costs.

Knowledge Base Management: This enables the accumulation and real-time sharing of enterprise knowledge, laying a solid foundation for the inheritance of the company’s knowledge.

System Integration: Through the integration of various business systems and design software, it truly connects the data workflows in enterprise product R&D management. It improves the efficiency of information utilization within the company, reduces data risks caused by manual entry, and minimizes labor costs associated with repetitive tasks.
